The retailer is backing a new campaign calling on the Government to make period pants exempt from VAT
Tesco says it will make its period pants cheaper from today by covering the cost of VAT. The product is classed as a garment, meaning it is subject to the 20% tax.
Tesco says it is the first retailer to cover the cost in the meantime. It currently sells eight lines of period pants as part of its F&F clothing brand.It means pack of pants will be reduced to £14.40 from £18 and a single pack of pants will now sell for £6 - down from £7.50. Tesco says the change will be permanent.
