Campaigner Ashley Smith is among those to tell the BBC that improvements in the industry are needed.
Thames Water, the UK's largest water company, is in talks to secure extra funding as it struggles to pay its debts. On Tuesday, chief executive Sarah Bentley quit the business after just two years in the job. The firm has come in for strong criticism following a series of sewage discharges and leaks. "The River Evenlode, a tributary of the Thames, is teetering on the brink of death thanks to Thames Water's sewage dumping. "With the resignation of the CEO and reports the chairman is to be replaced, it's clear Thames Water is going down the plug."The public have been cheated and defrauded for decades by profiteering water companies.
Oxfordshire campaigner Ashley Smith, from the group Windrush Against Sewage Pollution, said Sarah Bentley had failed to make improvements.
