Growing up in the ‘80s in an Aussie rules-loving house, I knew two things to be true: we followed theThis Saturday – almost 40 years later – many eyes will be glued to thegrand final. A premiership match between the two teams that pioneered women’s footy, and today both have women as presidents. I wonder what dad would make of this.In the late 1960s my father, Peter Weekes, was a 21-year-old ruckman for the Melbourne Football Club, back when players had full-time jobs away from playing footy.
