A number of Premier League players have been dogged by injury in this March international break
Many clubs will have looked at the March international break as a major inconvenience. It comes at a time when domestic leagues are finally approaching their climax and cup competitions are hotting up too.. Managing players’ workload at this vital stage of the season is the remit of every Premier League club’s medical department and precautions have understandably been taken.
Last week, Guardiola revealed that Kevin De Bruyne would not join up with the Belgium squad as he nurses a groin problem. With Brazil keeper Ederson also sidelined at the moment and Jack Grealish not considered for the England squad due to a groin injury, the issues are threatening to mount up for City.
There was better news on Erling Haaland this week, as the striker allayed fears that he had suffered a knock in training for Norway. Speaking before playing for his country against Czechia on Friday, Haaland dispelled the injury rumours. “I’m feeling fine. I didn’t walk off the training . I don’t know who wrote that,” he said. The likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Diogo Jota, Alisson, Curtis Jones and Ryan Gravenberch have played no part in this international break due to pre-existing injuries.
