Fast food fans may not realise that the cheeky mascot was quietly phased out in 2016 and is no longer the face of the iconic brand.
Ronald McDonald was the smiling, colourful clown that graced the packaging Happy Meals and billboards of McDonald's for decades.
However, many McDonald's lovers are only just discovering the real reason why the clown mascot was scrapped - and it's more disturbing than you might think. The sightings caused a mass hysteria and scared the general public, with some reported sightings of clowns wielding dangerous weapons or luring children with money and sweets.
