The Home Secretary is calling on ban of the breed following an attack over the weekend
Home Secretary Suella Braverman is pushing for a ban on American XL Bully dogs. She has commissioned “urgent advice” on outlawing the dogs after an incident took place in Bordesley Green, Birmingham on Saturday, September 9.
Currently, there are four breeds banned in the UK - Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino and Fila Brasileiro. The Pit Bull Terrier and the Japanese Tosa were bred specifically with fighting in mind. What do I do if I own a banned breed? If you have a banned dog, the police or local council dog warden can take it away and keep it, even if is not acting dangerously or there has not been a complaint. The police may need permission from a court to do this.A police or council dog expert will judge what type of dog you have and whether it is a danger to the public. Your dog will then either be released or kept in kennels.
