You may have seen reports that the Earth’s inner core has stopped spinning. In fact, new research said that it may no longer be spinning slightly faster than the rest of the planet—not that it had stopped altogether.

It has been very widely reported that the Earth’s solid inner core may have stopped rotating, or started rotating in reverse.
