TV presenter Roman Kemp is set to host the BBC's new quiz show The Finish Line with Blue Peter legend Sarah Greene but admits he had no idea who she was when they first met
TV presenter and Capital Radio DJ Roman Kemp is having a busy summer. As well as making a documentary series about young footballers, entitled Boot Dreams, he has also filmed a new BBC daytime quiz show called The Finish Line, which he co-hosts with legendary former Blue Peter presenter Sarah Greene.
“The generational difference between us is so nice. It has created this bond between us as we are playing to two different audiences.” “My mum and dad were both interviewed by Sarah on the kids’ show Saturday Superstore,” he says. “They were there quite a lot.” Speaking of mums, Roman is thrilled that his own mum is being celebrated at the moment, thanks to Netflix’s latest Wham! documentary generating a new wave of interest in the pop group. Shirlie was, of course, a backing singer and performer for Wham! before she went on to form Pepsi & Shirlie in the late 80s. And she was also back in the spotlight earlier this year when she and Martin appeared together on The Masked Singer.
“We shot it and I was so bad,” he says, “I was horrendous. I remember leaving the studio and calling my mum and dad on speakerphone and saying to them, ‘I’m rubbish.’
