A meta-analysis published in BMCWomensHealth finds that being overweight and particularly obese is an important factor affecting women's sexual dysfunction. Policymakers can use this to guide interventions aimed at addressing the issue effectively.

In recent years, research has revealed a correlation between obesity and sexual dysfunction, with a significant number of obese women reporting that their primary sexual dysfunction is related to orgasmic difficulties [Given the numerous complications associated with obesity and overweight and the significance of sexual dysfunction in women, we conducted a comprehensive review of studies in this field.

The gathered information was subsequently organized and managed using the information management software EndNote. The inclusion criteria for the studies were as follows: cross-sectional studies, studies with accessible full-text versions, and studies that presented adequate data on sample size and prevalence. Conversely, the exclusion criteria encompassed case reports, case series studies, review and duplicate studies. The selection of studies followed the guidelines outlined by PRISMA .

Effect of Latin dance on physical and mental health: a systematic review - BMC Public HealthEffect of Latin dance on physical and mental health: a systematic review - BMC Public HealthBackground Latin dance is a well-liked physical activity. It has gained increasing attention as an exercise intervention for improving physical and mental health outcomes. This systematic review examines the effects of Latin dance on physical and mental health. Methods Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analysis (PRISMA) were used to report the data for this review. To gather research from the literature, we used recognized academic and scientific databases such SportsDiscus with Full Text, PsycINFO, Cochrane, Scopus, PubMed, and Web of Science. The systematic review only included 22 studies out of the 1,463 that matched all inclusion criteria. The PEDro scale was used to rate each study’s quality. 22 research received scores between 3 and 7. Results Latin dance has been demonstrated to promote physical health by helping people lose weight, improve cardiovascular health, increase muscle strength and tone, and improve flexibility and balance. Furthermore, Latin dance can benefit mental health by reducing stress, improving mood, social connection, and cognitive function. Conclusions Finding from this systematic review provide substantial evidence that Latin dance has effect on physical and mental health. Latin dance has the potential to be a powerful and pleasurable public health intervention. Systematic Review Registration CRD42023387851, https://www.crd.york.ac.uk/prospero .

Effective communications strategies to increase the impact of environmental health research - Environmental HealthEffective communications strategies to increase the impact of environmental health research - Environmental HealthBackground Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are the subject of a growing body of research with the potential to positively impact public and ecological health. However, to effect positive change, findings must be communicated beyond the scientific community. Objective We sought to (a) evaluate the relationships between communications strategy, media attention, and scholarly citations of PFAS research and (b) offer guidance for researchers and communications professionals who would like to publicize future work and increase its impact. Methods We analyzed 273 peer-reviewed epidemiological studies on PFAS human health impacts with publication years 2018–2020, as collected by a pre-existing database. We investigated whether a press release was issued, open-access status, abstract and press release readability, timing of publication and press release distribution, journal impact factor, study type and sample size, statistical significance of finding(s), number of scholarly citations, and the Altmetric Attention Score (a measure of media attention). Discussion Of papers reporting a statistically significant association with health harm, those with a press release received 20 times more media attention (as assessed by Altmetric scores) than those that did not. However, only 6.2% of all papers and 7.8% of significant papers issued one. Among papers with a press release, media attention was positively correlated with better abstract and press release readability and speed in issuing the press release. Scholarly citations were positively correlated with media attention, presence of a press release, and open-access status. Conclusion Most papers with significant findings on PFAS are published without a press release and receive little or no media attention. This reduces the likelihood that important research is reaching the public and decisionmakers who can translate science into action. Issuing a press release and receiving media attention also appear to increase s

Management of penile post-circumcision ischemia by pentoxifylline infusion and hyperbaric oxygen therapy - BMC UrologyManagement of penile post-circumcision ischemia by pentoxifylline infusion and hyperbaric oxygen therapy - BMC UrologyBackground Post-circumcision penile ischemia is a devastating complication. We will present our experience in managing children with various forms of penile ischemia. Materials and methods This cohort prospective observational and interventional study was performed on all male children with post-circumcision penile ischemia between April 2017 and October 2021. A designed and approved protocol includes a combination of early pentoxifylline infusion, hyperbaric oxygen inhalation, early catheterization, and appropriate surgical debridement were applied for patients with deep ischemia 11/23, mainly the necrotic skin and subcutaneous tissues. Data of patient age, anesthesia method, monopolar diathermy usage, early presentation and positive wound culture were collected and analyzed statistically. Results During the study period 3,382 children were circumcised for non-medical reasons; 23 children were diagnosed with penile ischemia (0.7%), among other complications (9%). Most of the penile ischemia is associated with the use of monopolar diathermy (74%). The use of compressive wound dressing to control post-circumcision bleeding and infections is also responsible for ischemia in 52.2% and 43.5% of the cases. Inexperienced physicians were commonly responsible for ischemia (73.9%). Patients managed at first 24 h had better outcomes than those who were presented later (p = 0.001). Conclusion In children with post-circumcision penile ischemia, a combination of hyperbaric oxygen therapy and pentoxifylline is especially effective for patients with skin and facial necrosis, this management reduces penile tissue loss.
