It comes amid promises to radically overhaul the area

A Korean street food restaurant wants to transform a corner of Piccadilly Gardens into an al fresco dining area.

The tables and chair will front out onto the existing grass area. The application develops on some minor alterations to the concrete structures which currently separate the square from the main bus station. Those works include removing the central roof section of the concrete Pavilion to create two separate structures, plus a host of other improvements. These plans are not to be confused with the £25 million overhaul of Piccadilly Gardens, which is expected to be announced in the autumn.
