Harry had to seek his late grandmother's permission to propose to Meghan and admitted that he was left confused by her 'cryptic' response.
Planning a proposal is a nerve wracking situation for most people, with the royal family being no exception as they have to seek permission from the head of the family.
The duke explained that he had waited until the family were on a shooting trip in Sandringham before speaking to his granny as he hoped that it would put the late Queen in a 'good mood', the Mirror reports.The duke recounted his exact words in Spare, telling his grandmother how much he loved Meghan and that he wanted to marry her.He says the Queen then replied: "You have to?" to which Harry replied that is what he had been told.
He said he stood there while trying to work out what she meant but realised she was telling him yes as he described himself as a 'muppet'. Harry almost spoiled the surprise with his choice of drinks for the casual weekday dinner which he explained made Meghan suspicious.
