The Scottish beach that featured in Chariots of Fire and is perfect for a spring visit
, was where the Chariots of Fire scene was shot and so is unsurprisingly popular amongst runners. If you're looking to exercise with a view, you can't do much better than the ocean and the famous St Andrews Links golf course.
West Sands is also a very popular spot for a variety of other sports, such as swimming and kitesurfing. Even if you aren't interested in re-enacting the run from the film, the beach has plenty to offer those simply looking for a nice day out. As well as the previously mentioned views, the north end of West Sands overlooks the Eden Estuary Nature Reserve—which is home to a variety of birds and seals.
With St Andrews just a short walk away, there is also plenty else to see and do nearby. After you've finished soaking up the gorgeous views, why not head into town and enjoy a bit of shopping or a tasty meal at restaurants such as The Grange Inn or The Seafood Ristorante?
