A notorious French serial killer dubbed ‘The Serpent’ has been freed from jail.
Charles Sobhraj was pictured being taken to an immigration office in Kathmandu ahead of his deportation Charles Sobhraj targeted backpackers travelling around Asia throughout the 1970s and 80s.
Now 78-years-old, he has spent nearly 20 years behinds bars in Nepal and will soon be sent back to Europe.The news was welcomed by the mother of the woman he married while behind bars in 2008, despite a 44-year age gap.He has been held in a high-security prison since 2003, when he was convicted of murdering American backpacker Connie Jo Bronzich in 1975.
