This answers a lot of questions 🤔

For decades, the floating doorway outside Glasgow University's Mackintosh House has been drawing bemused looks from the faces of students and locals alike.

Funny stories have been told by locals over the years. However, the answer lies in an interesting tale that involves the legendary Glasgow-born architect, Charles Rennie Mackintosh. Now, the Macks, as you might imagine, were well into their home décor and had the interior tastefully decorated and furnished in Charles' now world-renowned style. The place was an ideal home that was decades ahead of its time.

Drawing on contemporary descriptions of the house and images of Mackintosh interiors, they meticulously attempted to include every little detail - including the internal layout and precise positioning of windows and doors.
