The superstition the Lionesses swear by as they prepare for World Cup quarter final
The England women's team is set to take on Colombia in the quarter finals of the World Cup, where the Lionesses will try to secure their place in the final four teams of the competition.
This is the case even for Sarina Wiegman's Lioness squad, with England midfielder Georgia Stanway lifting the lid on the team's superstition. "It was never really spoken about, but for every matchday minus one, we would travel to a different hotel, and it became tradition to leave everything unpacked at our base hotel.
While the Lionesses had the comfort of their home country to play in last year, however, they have been based in New South Wales in Australia for the World Cup - providing a big change for the team to adapt to.
