The tiny brewery supplying Lancashire's top Michelin star restaurant with top range beer
In 2015, Julie and Les O'Grady left behind their successful aquatics company and took a deep dive into a new business venture. In their own words, the duo "decided to hang up our fishing nets and pick up our mash paddle" to launch Neptune Brewery.
Passionate about producing organic and natural beers which are unfiltered, unpasteurised and unfined, Julie and Les have gradually spread their beer net over the border into West Lancashire, which is a short drive from their Merseyside HQ. And thier thirst to produce vegan-friendly and sustainable beverages is proving huge draw for businesses."Our beer is not force carbonated which many breweries across the UK do with their beer, using C02," Julie explained to Lancslive.
Other local venues include the Cricketers and tap Room no12 in Ormskirk and The Stanley Gate in Bickerstaffe. Neptune's beer names are inspired by the owners' 15-year experience in the aquatics industry, with the Lost at Sea IPA and On the Bounty stout. The brewery regularly host events, supply beer festivals and take part in tap takeover, while they are working towards opening their own beerhouse and bar.
