Being dismissed onOne of the main things I’ve noticed is that this stature is somehow tied to competence – I think because height and dominance and confidence are so intricately linked to some people.

In workplaces, I’ve found people are more likely to listen to a wrong tall man than a correct short one.The first rule of Height Club is that you never put yourself in a situation where your diminutive stature is so blatant. Many of us will attest to the angles we try and find, and Sunak himself, while chancellor, positioned himself at the top of a staircase during a Budget photoshoot in an apparent bid to appear taller.

So I groaned when I saw the initial picture drop yesterday, knowing the onslaught of memes that was coming – but it was still disappointing to see politicians get in on the act.Shadow Health Secretary Wes Streeting quipped, ‘Can see why the worst strikes in theis right to be called out – but making a joke about his size detracts from the key message.
