Three fire engines were called to the scene at around 4pm today (August 13)
Firefighters were scrambled to the M60 motorway this afternoon following reports of a car on fire during the soaring heat.
Officers from the Highways Agency were first on scene and kept the vehicle occupants safe. One witness at the scene told the M.E.N they saw two people safely recovered from the car. The eye-witness said a Cadent worker was also present at the scene, helping to guide oncoming traffic away from the incident.
