The present owner, Paul Oxborrow, who started the B&B in 2008 after buying the house flat by flat, says it simply made sense to decorate according to the era it was constructed, but he clearly has a passion for it too, and for hunting down appropriate antiques . Formerly a religious studies teacher and, for a time, an Anglican priest, he has a wealth of religious artefacts throughout that amplify the Christmassyness.

And so to bed. The house is a little chilly, but it feels atmospheric to cosy up under a heap of blankets. I suppose others might find it spooky, but I don’t.
