Alex Salmond led supporters through the streets of Glasgow today

Thousands marched through Glasgow today in support of Scottish independence. The rally was organised by pro-indy group All Under One Banner.

The gathering took place at the same time as King Charles' coronation ceremony, setting off from Kelvingrove Park at 11.30am and finishing at Glasgow Green - with former First Minister, Alex Salmond leading the crowd and encouraging them to shout louder for "the benefit of those in Westminster Abbey".

The organisers of the march took to Twitter to share their joy, writing: "The desire for self determination is strong, and we will fight for independence until the fight is won. Well done everyone! #AUOBGlasgow #YES". Supporters of AUOB showed their support for the rally in the comments, one saying: "We’re back on the move...unstoppable towards our freedom...marches can only get bigger and better...terrific speakers".Marchers were led by a pipe band and Scottish MSPs.

Regan ended her speech by saying: "We will be the newest oldest country in the world and the world will rejoice, in welcoming us back, to national statehood."So let this be a turning point in our journey to independence; a new dawn for Scotland, where unity, integrity, and determination guide our path to that brighter future.
