Thousands unable to rent as landlords ban children and pets - should there be more protection for renters?
Thousands of adverts offering rental homes say children and pets are not allowed, according to fresh analysis by the BBC.
While there is no law banning this behaviour, MPs are considering introducing more protections for renters. However estate agents argue that a Government cap on deposits makes landlords more wary of any damage caused to their properties, especially by animals.
