The Eris subvariant is continuing to spread across the UK as Brits have been warned of three symptoms that differ from Omicron.
One in seven cases are now being attributed to the variant in the UK as infections from the Omicron subvariant are continuing to rise across all age groups. The latest data from the UK Health Security Agency reveal numbers have increased from the end of July.
As reported by The Mirror, the main symptoms of Eris similar to Omicron's - a sore throat, runny nose, blocked nose, sneezing, cough without phlegm, headache, cough with phlegm, a hoarse voice, muscle aches and pains and an altered sense of smell.The news comes as Dr Bharat Pankhania, an expert in disease control and public health, warned that Brits could face a new round of Covid jabs if Eris is shown to be resistant to the current vaccine.
The health expert urged people to get vaccinated, keep buildings ventilated, adding that masks may need to come back out if cases continue to rise. Top Trending Stories Today Dr Pankhania said it was crucial for people to keep on top of their vaccine, while only time would tell whether the most recent jab would help protect against Eris. He added: "The bottom line is this - as variants like this emerge we need to, constantly keep up to date with modifying the vaccines to mirror them.
