UPDATE: Three men seriously injured and A5 closed after crash involving van and car Oswestry
The incident happened on north of Glendrid, near the Welsh border, on Thursday morning and all emergency services attended including the air ambulance. The road remained closed for a police investigation into the afternoon.
Emergency services were called to the crash scene on the A5 from Gobowen to Weston Rhyn at 8.08am and sent three ambulances, a paramedic officer and the Midland Air Ambulance from Strensham to the scene. The Welsh Air Ambulance and colleagues from the Welsh Ambulance Service also attended the scene.“The first was the driver of the car. He was assessed and had sustained life-threatening injuries. He received advanced trauma care at the scene.“The second was the driver of the van.
Police said the road was due to remain closed for some time between Gledrid Roundabout and Halton Roundabout while they conduct an investigation.2/2 The collision happened around 8.20am this morning near Gledrid roundabout, two people have been taken to hospital with serious injuries.A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said:"We received a call approximately 8.20am about a serious collision on the A5 just north of Gledrid Roundabout.
"Air ambulance attended the incident this morning. The road will remain closed while investigations continue today."
