Pride in Liverpool marchers have faced their fair share of protesters over the years
Every year on the last weekend of July the city comes together to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community and its allies. And every year, like clockwork, protesters gather at Derby Square near Liverpool Crown Court to challenge what the celebrations stand for.
Those who attend Pride in Liverpool annually will know this is nothing new and should expect the same come this year's celebrations on Saturday, July 29. Joseph Tremarco, the general manager of Navy Bar, said they decided to pull off the stunt after hearing chants from the crowd. At the time, he told the ECHO: “We always know the religious protestors are going to be there, they let the organisers know and they always go to the same place.
