Tony Blair has urged people to avoid criticising Qatar’s LGBTQ+ rights abuses as its government ‘invests a huge amount of money’ in the UK.

‘One of the things I can see now is there is a kind of social revolution going on across the Middle East right now.

Speaking on The News Agents podcast with Emily Maitlis, Mr Blair commented on reports TfL has banned adverts encouraging travel to Qatar.Current Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer is boycotting the football tournament with his frontbench team over concerns for the rights of LGBTQ+ people and women, and for workers who died in the build-up to the competition.
