Julia Faid didn't think much of it and attributed it towards tiredness
Julia Faid, a financial controller from Towcester, had a surprising turn of events when a routine appointment with her local opticians led to a hospital visit and surgery to save her sight. It all started when Julia noticed a shadow in the bottom left corner of her right eye.
Daljit Purewal, the ophthalmic director at Specsavers Towcester, was present during Julia's visit to the store. Based on her eye test results, which included using an Optical Coherence Tomography machine for a detailed scan of the eye's structure, Daljit identified that Julia had a retinal detachment. This condition could have severe consequences if left untreated. Although the centre of Julia's retina was still attached at the time of her visit, it was progressively detaching.
Following the surgery, she was instructed to keep her face down for 24 hours to ensure the retina stayed in place. Determined to minimise any risks, Julia even slept on the floor. "I can't thank the team at Specsavers enough. They were sympathetic and professional throughout," concludes Julia. "Daljit even followed up to make sure everything had gone well with my surgery and when I visited the store, he recognised me and checked in to see if everything was still going well!
