A coroner has been alerted
Emergency services were called to Ainsdale beach on Merseyside at around 1.15pm today .
Police later said a man in his 50s tragically died at the scene, having suffered a medical episode not further described.The death is not being treated as suspicious and the man's next of kin have been informed. A file has been passed to the coroner ahead of a possible inquest being opened, reports the Liverpool Echo.Part of the beach in Sefton, which is between Southport and Formby, was said to have been cordoned off as police and paramedics attended.
