Later start for bank holiday trains as strike ends
Train passengers are being warned to expect disruption to continue after the latest round of strikes by rail workers come to an end.
Network Rail said 70% of services will be operating but it has urged passengers to check their travel times. Some airport transfer services are affected - the Gatwick Express to Victoria is suspended and Heathrow Express trains from Paddington will not resume until after 11:00. "Passengers should really check before they travel so they don't just turn up at a station for no trains to be there."
Thousands of RMT members across Network Rail, which operates and maintains the rail system, and 14 train companies have been engaged in strike action in a row over pay and conditions. Mick Lynch, general secretary of the RMT, said: "The union remains available for talks to resolve this dispute.
