Services have now resumed
Metrolink says the suspension was due to a car being stuck on the tracks. Travellers were being urged to consider using local bus services before the line reopened at about 6.45am.
In an earlier post on Twitter, a spokesperson for Metrolink said: "Due to a car stuck on the tracks, the Manchester Airport line is currently suspended. Ticket acceptance is in place on local bus service. "We apologise for any inconvenience caused." The Manchester Airport line runs from the airport and Wythenshawe to the city centre.
