A much-mocked mural in Northampton dedicated to the succession of Charles III as king has once again been ridiculed, this time on a primetime national TV show. One guest on the panel show asked "do we still execute people for treason in this country?" after taking a look at a picture.
Guest host Charlie Brooker asked panellists "do you want to see an official coronation mural commissioned by Northampton Town Council?" Regular Paul Merton said "I bet it's a cracker, go on then" as fellow panellists excitedly looked at their monitors. The mural was commissioned for £1,720 by Northampton Town Councillor Nazim Choudary, through a Councillor Community Fund. It was designed by two artists called Liam Freeman and Mez White of Spraycatz, whose other works appear on hoarding across Northampton.
