Trevor Phillips: Meghan Markle had to learn to be Black Former equalities watchdog chief delights Piers Morgan with broadside against Meghan, accusing her of being naïve on race
CONTROVERSIAL TV host Sir Trevor Phillips has claimed Meghan Markle had to learn to be Black and was wrong to fret about royal speculation over the colour of her baby.
He said: “I think people mistake who Meghan Markle is. She herself said that until she became ‘this princess’, she never regarded herself particularly as Black. And that’s understandable. At this point Morgan chimes in: “Of course!” Phillips continued: “…you know there’s somebody coming, it’s what you’re speculating about. White people, it’s what colour hair…”
Phillips was previously accused of running the old Commission for Racial Equality into the ground before it was abolished, and subsequently presiding over a dysfunctional Equality and Human Rights Commission, which he also chaired.
