A former director of nursing at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital who was also involved in several charities in the county has died.
Valerie Howell, 79, was a theatre nursing officer who worked at the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital before moving to the RSH.
She was married to the last Gary Howells, chief civil engineer and Shrewsbury and Atcham Borough Council. She was the senior development manager of Macmillan between 1999 – 2003 and then Pets at Therapy regional coordinator until 2020. Mrs Howells was also greatly involved with the Samaritans, Marriage Guidance and in British Red Cross shop.
