Tributes have been made to a former councillor affectionately known by close family as ‘gadget man’ who dedicated his retirement time to supporting the community

“He really enjoyed his time as a councillor and the friends he made through that. The role gave him a good sense of purpose and it was important to him. He also loved his children and grandchildren very much.” Tony later went on to work in the body shop at Vale Motors in Rawtenstall. The grandfather-of-11 went on to become a Snap-on tools dealer and he travelled around to garages in the North West area selling equipment to motor mechanics.
The Formula 1 motorsport fan helped Harvey rebuild his first car from a bare shell, took part in motor racing and had a keen interest in photography. Tony had a close relationship with his youngest daughter Rebekah who was the baby of the family and supported him very closely after the passing of his wife in late 2008.
