Holidaymakers heading to Turkey have been issued with health warning. It comes after the source of a serious outbreak of illness UK holidaymakers are bringing back from Turkey is yet to be traced.

The cases were all among people who have been on holiday, according to the latest figures, WalesOnline reports. The UK Health Security Agency said it had detected clusters of the Salmonella Enteritidis strain, which is understood to be the common source of infection. The majority of travellers had stayed in the Antalya region of Turkey and had been struck down with severe infections. Salmonella can have severe consequences if left untreated.

But there is a higher risk in cases involving children the elderly and those with weakened immune systems when their condition can become more serious.
