There will be tricky games to come, and perhaps like Mourinho, Nuno and Conte, Postecoglou will find things harder once the initial honeymoon period is over. But then again what Postecoglou is doing feels more sustainable than. And it was hard not to think of Nuno on Friday when Postecoglou said that beating United but not playing well wouldn’t mean a great deal to him.
“You want to feel that moment because I have always said, I love what football does to people, particularly in those moments,” he said. “So, you take a moment to think about the 60,000 here or the ones who were watching at home because they will be smiling for the rest of the week. I love that it does that, the game. That moment is just about appreciating I am pretty blessed to be doing what I am doing, being in the middle of a stadium leading a fantastic football club.
Postecoglou also thanked the Spurs fans for their support, as he did after last week’s 2-2 draw at Brentford.
