PSNI say the girl was being attacked by four to five men
A man was punched to the ground after trying to stop a group of men from attacking a teenage girl in South Belfast.
Police are appealing for information following the incident which reportedly took place at around 12.20am on Wednesday, July 12 in the Wellwood Street area. It was reported that a man saw a group of four to five men assaulting a teenage girl and tried to intervene before he was also attacked.A woman who also attempted to stop the assualt was knocked to the ground.A PSNI spokesperson said: "Police are appealing for information following a report of an assault in south Belfast in the early hours of Wednesday 12 July.
"At approximately 12.20am, a man witnessed a teenage girl being assaulted by approximately 4/5 males in the Wellwood Street area."A woman who also intervened, was also knocked to the ground."Anyone who may have witnessed the assault or anyone with CCTV, doorbell or dash-cam footage that could assist with enquiries, is asked to contact police on 101 quoting reference 989 of 24/07/23.
