One man was taken into custody on suspicion of murder, while the other was held on suspicion of causing and allowing the death of a child and child neglect.
Officers detained the pair after the youngster, whose age has yet to be revealed, was rushed to hospital in an 'unresponsive' state and died a short time later.
As reported by Manchester Evening News, they have both since been released on conditional bail pending further inquiries. Today, Lancashire Police said there was an investigation ongoing.
