More than 150 schools across England have been told by the government they need to shut facilities - or put urgent safety measures in place due to fears over reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (RAAC)
Two further schools in Bolton are impacted by the crisis over potentially dangerous crumbling concrete, it has emerged.
"We have acted as quickly as possible in the light of the new regulations, but we were surprised by the notification with days to go before we open to our children. The Manchester Evening News reported yesterday how St Bernard's RC Primary in Ladybridge would not be able to open to pupils on Monday. Bolton Council say following examinations RAAC has been found at one school it has responsibility for but that the 'relevant work has already been completed.' Whilst further assessments are to take place at four others in the next few days.
