TWO Covid hotspots have emerged with a surge of new infections - this interactive map reveals if your area is one of them.coronavirus live blogIn the last 24 hours 2,427 new cases have been reported - with 15,895 infection in the last seven days.

Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham said that Bolton was a "cause of concern" after the town recorded one of the highest number of infections over two weeks at the end of April. The director of public health for Lancashire Dr. Sakthi Karunanithi this morning said that variants will likely be kept at bay - as it will take people some time to mix how they used to.

"Hopefully that will be it, but there is an uncertainty in terms of the variants and how severe they are going to be."Data from Public Health England shows there are 105 places where Covid infections are still rising.
