put support among Scots for leaving the UK at 56 per cent and the pro-Union side on 44 per cent, when undecideds were excluded.
He added that he was “sure” the reason why Mr Flynn had acted now “is something that will become apparent to me during the course of your leadership”. Mr Wishart, the SNP’s Defra spokesman, was joined on the backbenches a few hours later by Mr McDonald, who has served as defence spokesman since 2017. In a plea for unity, he added: “We are at our best when we collaborate as a united party and sell a modern vision of what Scotland can still achieve.”
