The fire spread to the rear gardens of a number of homes
. Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service was called at 4.43pm yesterday to attend an incident in Slim Close.
Initial reports into their Control team indicated two sheds and a fence were on fire in the rear gardens of properties. On arrival, it became clear the fire had rapidly spread to the rear gardens of a number of neighbouring homes. The flames had begun to light some of the roofs and firefighters requested the attendance of Northamptonshire Police to set up a 100-metre cordon and to help evacuate nearby properties.According to the fire service, everyone was accounted for and no injuries were reported. Crews then went to work to try and contain the spread of the blaze.By about 6.
A spokesperson for the fire service said: "By 9 pm the fire investigation concluded and indicated that the most probable cause was as a result of a deliberate ignition and is now subject of a Northamptonshire Police investigation. " during the blaze, which was attended by five fire engines overall. The remaining crews took thermal readings later into the night before leaving the scene at 11.32pm."
