Many parents will receive a massive hit to their income by the end of August
Three different benefit payments will come to an end within the next two weeks, affecting a wide range of benefit claimants.
Guidance on the GOV.UK website says: "Your Child Benefit stops on August 31 on or after your child's 16th birthday if they leave education or training. It continues if they stay in approved education or training, but you must tell HM Revenue and Customs . Meanwhile, approved training should be unpaid and doesn't cover courses that are part of a job contract. Your child must also be 16 or 17 when they begin their course while studying for one or two academic years at a school or college and living in the UK with you.
Child Benefit pays a weekly rate of £24 for an eldest or only child and £15.90 for additional children, with payments going into accounts every four weeks on a Monday or Tuesday. So for one child, that's £96 a month or £1,248 over a year . If you have a second child, the combined total goes up £159.60 a month or £2,074.80 a year.
