Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk may not be able to happen for all four belts
The proposed Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk heavyweight world title fight may not be allowed to be an undisputed clash with all four belts on the line.to meet in February or March, but a spanner has now been thrown into the works.The IBF have officially ordered Usyk to defend his belts against IBF mandatory challenger Filip Hrgovic next.
Typically in a situation like this, Usyk’s representatives would now go to the IBF and request an exception to delay the mandatory and allow the unification with Fury to take priority. Under a technicality in the IBF’s rules, this looks set to prevent Usyk from securing an exception to delay the mandatory.Similar situations have occurred previously with IBF mandatories.He was then instantly ordered to face IBF heavyweight mandatory Vyacheslav Glazkov, whose team requested immediate purse bids.
