It came as Bloomberg News reported that Mr Sunak is eager to build on his success in securing a new post-Brexit deal for Northern Ireland by making it easier for people travelling to the bloc. Only EU citizens and those from the European Economic Area countries are allowed to use e-gates within the bloc, but the Government has been encouraged by Spain’s decision to open up its e-gates to British travellers last year.
