Ugandans chanted for President Yoweri Museveni to 'kill the bill' that will impose the death penalty
ACTIVISTS FROM the LGBT+ community gathered outside the Ugandan High Commission to drum up support in opposing the east African’s country anti-LGBT bill.
Ugandan President, Mr Yoweri Museveni, has been an outspoken harsh critic of the gay community, previously labelling them as “disgusting”. “The solidarity shown by activists and community members worldwide…is essential in this fight. We must reiterate to Museveni that the world is watching and not stay silent as our human rights are trampled on.”
Uganda’s parliament passed the Anti-Homosexuality Bill with just two MPs in opposition to the legislation. Western nations have hit back against the law, including the Biden administration who called the law “one of the most extreme anti-LGBTQI+ laws in the world” and would reportedly consider economic repercussions.
