The Premier League released a statement, saying:"We call for peace and our thoughts are with all those who have been impacted."In the FA Cup on Thursday, Everton gave an emotional tribute to their Ukrainian player Vitaliy Mykolenko.The 22-year-old was given the captain's armband and both Everton and Boreham Wood players walked out with Ukraine flags draped over their shoulders.
Clubs in Germany also marked the beginning of their matches with a minute's applause and signs asking for peace.
