The appeal has been backed by celebrities including Downton Abbey's Hugh Bonneville and Doctor Who star David Tennant. A five-year-old boy has died in hospital in Ukraine just days after his sister and parents were shot dead by Russian troops, it has been reported. His 13-year-old sister remains in critical condition in another hospital - unaware that her entire family has died.Twitter has been blocked in Russia, according to Interfax news agency - just over an hour after it was announced access to Facebook had been cut off.
"This is part of their effort ... to cut off a range of information from their public," White House spokesperson Jen Psaki told reporters. The Russian version of events is that the conflict is not an"invasion" or a"war" but a"special operation".
