A volunteer blood delivery service is claiming the new ULEZ regulations could leave the charity short of drivers.

A blood delivery service has said the new ULEZ regulations could leave it unable to operate properly.

The charity's chair, Ian Hunt, said: “So far, we have had three people say they most likely won’t be able to carry on with this commitment but we won’t see the full effect for a few weeks because of how complicated this is for the charity. Serv Herts and Beds helps NHS hospitals in Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire and transports plasma, blood and other supplies.Watford volunteer Duncan Woods is now having to shell out £12.50 every day that he goes to the Colindale donation centre following the expansion.

“I have gone to TfL and shown them the proof that my vehicle is compliant, but they won’t accept it. They want me to go to a testing centre to prove to them that it is, but it could cost me around £175 and I would be showing them the paperwork I have already sent them.”Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, told BBC Breakfast: “We now have a really effective policy to reduce air pollution. It’s shown to be effective in central London and inner London, but I think clean air is a right not a privilege.
