Mother of girl who died from pollution accuses Starmer of 'wobbling' on ULEZ
"We're paying 20 billion to the NHS because of air pollution - this isn't a little asthma matter.Labour had been expecting to win the by-election in Uxbridge and South Ruislip, but the Conservatives held the seat with a majority of just under 500.
ULEZ charges mean certain older and more polluting vehicles have to pay a daily £12.50 charge to drive in the zone. Some factions of the Conservative Party have also used the election result to put pressure on Mr Sunak to scrap pledges like stopping new combustion engine sales by 2030, and the 2050 net-zero target.
