University racial equality targets could fail without ‘concrete plans,’ researchers warn by LeahMahon_
TARGETS TO tackle racial inequality in universities and colleges need to be backed up by “concrete plans” or otherwise stand the risk of failing, higher education researchers have warned.
Analysis suggested that realistic targets should be set on contextual factors to bring about change such as institutional student data work to stamp out racial divides. The TASO report found that nuances of different approaches to tackle this gap need to be considered and limiting organisational structures need to be looked at best under what long-term systemic changes need to be made. Data analysis has been recommended to improve their examination of racial disparities.
